Actress Jessica Alba has spoken of the anguish of playing
a prostitute murdered by a serial killer. The 29-year-old described filming
the brutal scenes with co-star Casey Affleck for The Killer Inside Me and said:
‘It was horrible when he was doing that stuff.’ She defended director
Michael Winterbottom, who has been heavily criticised for the film’s graphic
violence. She told Tatler magazine: ‘It’s difficult material to
tackle.’ The film tells the story of a small-town sheriff who becomes
a psychotic killer. Scenes were so violent Jessica needed extensive make-up
to disfigure her face. She said: ‘It was eight hours of make-up throughout
the day. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t lie down, I couldn’t
see out.’
